When Avery attacks

Avery loves playing with paper.. her latest victim was my Rachael Ray magazine. Here's what's left of it:

I can file this picture under "You Know You're a Mom When..."

My keys have multiplied :-)

The Usticks have all been battling colds lately. Avery first, then me and now Brent. Boo! We've been hanging out at home trying to rest up the past few days. We did travel up to Williamsburg this past weekend to stay at my parent's house. Brent got together with some of his guy friends from college for a good chunk of the weekend, and Avery & I spent lots of time with Mom and Dad. It was extra special because it was my Dad's birthday on Saturday. We celebrated with birthday cookies... yum! You can tell Avery was under the weather from how rosy her cheeks are!

The ride back home.. don't you love the car seat cover?

Shopping Cart

So this is Avery's new pose when I put her in a shopping cart. She gets quite a few giggles from people passing us by in the store. I readjust her every few minutes, but she always reverts back to this position! What can you do...?

8 months old!

This is what occurred when I was trying to take a picture of Avery. The monthly picture, you know... It was much harder for her to sit still than it was last month! This girl loves to move.

Like Mother Like Daughter

I know I've been posting a lot lately... hope it's okay with you! ;) I've noticed that Avery is already showing a great love for bags! I should confess that one of my most favorite activities as a little girl was to play grocery where I'd pack up paper grocery bags with anything I could find in the house only to then unpack them. I had so much fun. Well Avery isn't using paper bags yet... but she does enjoy rummaging through her diaper bag and pulling everything out. She loves it. Also, today I set her down on the floor with a small basket of toys in front of her. Minutes later I find this:

An empty basket!

Brent got us a super yummy treat for Valentine's Day... COLDSTONE! yum!

We've also started giving Avery more solid foods. Here she is eating a Puff. Usually I'll place a few on her tray and the puffs end up sticking to the palms of her hands and she can't find them! Occasionally she'll get one to her mouth by herself.

More??

It's true. Avery's getting another tooth. It's her 5th. I don't know if she's working on more or not.. it's really hard to see inside her mouth! I noticed it today at church when I went to pick her up from the nursery. She was crying and I got a good look inside. Now Brent & I know for sure why she's been extra squealy these past few days. We had a hunch, but it's so easy to chalk baby fussiness up to teething, so I wasn't convinced. She has been using anything and everything in sight to chew on...
even her heavy, musical drums!

Now I am convinced. How many more of these do we have in store? :-)

Gotta Love That Smile

See the progress on Avery's two upper teeth? They're really coming in now.

Trip to the Park

Avery & I went out to run a few errands this morning. Once I got those accomplished, I thought it would be fun to go to the park on the way home. I couldn't let a gorgeous day like this go by without spending at least a little time outside! On a side note, we ran into a friend and her little girl at the park and the girl pointed to Avery's feet and said, "She doesn't have any shoes on!" So I told her that Avery wanted to feel the breeze in her toes! Avery had her first taste of the swings... and she loved it! Sorry one of the videos is sideways.. anyone know how to fix that?

Furniture

No matter where I set Avery down in a room she always gravitates towards the furniture--and usually gets half of her body underneath it! Today she found the drawer handles quite entertaining.
