I haven't really been good about taking many photos lately... probably because Avery gets SO curious about the camera, I can't get far enough away from her to take an actual picture! Anyway, here's one from yesterday. My mom was visiting for the day and told me this is exactly what I used to do as a baby... play with bags. Avery kept taking the inner plastic bag in and out and then closing up the big bag and trying to lift it and walk around (it was super heavy..).

This was from a few days ago... Brent loves it! Can you blame him? She's got good hands already! haha!

(she's actually walking and throwing the ball... but, doesn't it look like she's actually catching it instead??)

a year ago today

just a random post! this was last year... I can't believe it!

I love it when Avery has a "conversation" with one of her stuffed animals. Hearing her chat away is so fun! I wonder what she's talking about.

a discovery

Let me start by saying that Avery extremely dislikes being on her back. Very rarely have we caught her "playing" on her back since she's learned to sit up/crawl. I ran downstairs to grab some water and I come upstairs to find THIS: Avery is totally relaxing on her puppy eating an animal cracker watching Clifford on PBS. It only lasted a minute until she was on the move again.

"Ball!"

She did it again later! This girl loves dogs. Clifford the big, red dog is right up her alley.

All in all, she's been a pretty happy girl today considering I discovered ANOTHER new tooth coming in. That's #3 for the week.

friday fun

Avery and I took advantage of the unseasonably mild weather and headed to the park today. We of course brought "Doggies" by Sandra Boynton. Never leave home without it. Have I mentioned Avery's love of dogs??


Here she is pointing out a dog to me! "Pawh & woof" she says.

Avery wasn't into crawling on the actual grass... she took it nice and slow and stopped a few times to attempt to clean her hands off. I guess when you don't have a yard, you aren't used to grass!

I found another tooth coming in tonight... perhaps this is why she even cried during her favorite part of the evening: bath time!

a 5 month hiatus comes to an end

for teeth, that is. I wasn't sure if Avery was going to ever get more teeth. At the rate she got her first 8 teeth I was imagining a full set of teeth by age 1. Sure enough.. a big chomper is coming in the back of her mouth. We've seen lots of this today: drool and pouts and crying and eye rubs. Poor girl!


OK, so this photo was taken on Christmas day last year. Avery was 6 months old. She's thinned out quite a bit since then, right?!

puzzle how-to

Avery's "how-to" on puzzles:
1. "Avery, do you want to do a puzzle?" I ask her.
2. crawl over to the shelf where the puzzles are stored (she actually does this when I ask her)
3. put puzzles on the floor
4. SIT on puzzle board
5. bang puzzle pieces together and lay them out on the floor
6. you're finished when all pieces are taken out of the puzzle!
