Working on new skillz

This is a video of one of Avery's new skills.. chewing on her corn teether.

Last weekend it was Homecoming up at William & Mary. We headed up to spend the weekend in Williamsburg at my parent's house. My sister and her fam came to visit, too. It was a blast! One of the main objectives for the visit was to get a photo of the two kiddies for my mom's christmas card. What a hoot! Avery B had on her striped xmas outfit and Henry had on a red "Ho Ho Ho" shirt. Let's just say Avery was a steady rock, but Henry had a new face in each photo! I don't think Henry knew what to do sitting next to his cousin... especially when Avery started leaning on him with her left arm. So cute! Here's a few shots from the scene.

Avery loves her auntie!
Avery is getting much better at holding objects. Lately anything in her hands goes straight into her mouth.
This girl LOVES to stand. She's so happy when we hold her up. She locks her knees and stands straight up. She might pass right by sitting and go for walking. (just kidding!) I've been trying to help her sit on the floor lately, but it's hard because she straightens herself out and lunges backwards!

Here's a rare happy moment sitting in her bumbo seat:
This video was from last night when Avery was sitting up in Brent's lap.

No way!

Avery rolled over today from her tummy to her back! I wasn't quick enough to capture it on video, but I will try again later! Hopefully I can post it soon.

In other news, Avery went the whole night without eating! I guess she technically "slept through the night," but it did involve me up every hour or so to soothe her back to sleep with her pacifier. This is something I've always done, and at least once or twice during the night she couldn't be soothed back to sleep from crying and would need to eat. Not last night! Hopefully this is just the beginning and in time she will get better at soothing herself back to sleep.. or not waking at all!

Yesterday we went in for her 4-month doctor appointment... I'm guessing the shots did her well!

Avery's new thing is to sit in her bouncer seat with her feet up in the air!

My, how you've changed!

I thought it would be fun to take Avery's picture every month so we can see how much she is growing and changing! Here's what we have so far:

June 17th

July 17th

August 17th

September 17th

October 17th

4 months old today!

Avery is 4 months old today! How am I celebrating? By not being able to sleep! I didn't wake up until 3am to feed Avery and now it's 4am and I'm wide awake! I don't think I had slept that long in one night since she was born. We're working so hard at getting Avery to sleep longer stretches.. who knew I would need help with that, too!

It's Nice to be Outside

I love Fall! I enjoy the cooler weather and since Fall is a season that is quickly gone in this area, I'm trying to soak up as much time as I can outside. Avery is the lucky girl who gets to go with me on daily walks in our neighborhood. Last week we got her a different stroller. It's smaller than her other one and much easier for me to handle! The first time Brent and I took her on a walk in it she fell asleep. Now that's what a call a great stroller! I knew it had to be comfortable.

Where does the time go?

I just realized how long it had been since I did a post on the blog! Yikes! We had a great end to the summer. My sister and her family are temporarily stationed up in Maryland until December- their permanent home is in North Dakota. We have been taking every opportunity to see them as much as possible! Brent, Avery, and I took a little trip up to see them the weekend the hurricane was nearby. Boy, did we sure drive through some torrential rain. Avery astoundingly napped the entire trip up minus the time she was up to eat once. What a champ! Did I mention it took us about 5 hours to get up there? Friday evening traffic in rain is NOT good. We so enjoyed our long weekend with family. We walked around the Baltimore Harbor and ate at a little food court. Krista and I pushed our little ones in their respective strollers while Matt (krista's husband) and Brent walked alongside. On the way home we ventured to find a local gelatto place Brent had come across while researching fun places to eat in Baltimore. We almost didn't stop because the neighborhood it was in looked quite sketchy. But alas, our hunger for gelatto prevailed and we stopped. It was super tasty. I got the chocolate hazelnut flavor... think Nutella. We also visited Covenant Life Church up in Gaithersburg on Sunday. I mostly saw the lobby and hallways due to Avery not wanting to sit quietly in the sanctuary! But they were very nice. All in all it was an awesome trip. I'm so glad we got to visit. Oh! I almost forgot. One of the coolest things of the trip was seeing our nephew, Henry, start walking by himself back and forth between people! It was so cute!

Stay tuned! We're working on making this blog look super cool.
